About

My Background

I have experience in retail, event planning, logistics, HR, and organizational design. I'm all about being effective AND efficient, and I've been told I adapt quickly to change. I'm looking to work for a university that I can be passionate about from the people to the work. The more excited I am, the harder I work. This can be seen in my volunteer work. My favorite volunteering activity includes helping students move into the dorms at TCU. The moving part is not always fun, but the spirit that comes alive is what keeps me coming back. I'm looking for that kind of spirit at my future university home.

My Experience

Background & Expertise

Adjunct Professor

January 2021 - Present

I have adjunct experience with Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls teaching Business Foundations, and with Tarleton State University teaching online sections of Strategic Management.

Here's some words from my former dean at MSU: "Ms. Forrester cut her teeth as a college-level instructor here in the business college at Midwestern State University. After beginning her Ph.D. program at the University of South Alabama, she expressed an  interest in 'adjuncting' for us to build experience. We partnered her with another faculty member for  one semester, and then she taught her own section of one of our more challenging experiences – Foundations of Business, a freshman level course. I watched her rapidly improve her instructional skills. Incidentally, teaching writing and oral presentation skills are huge elements of this course. She was a  true standout in using technology to engage with students, both in and outside the classroom. She also  successfully dealt with the menagerie of professorial experiences – disruptive students, disengaged  students, problems with academic integrity – she’s seen and handled it all."

Temporary Human Resources Talent Recruiter, ITW Traulsen

August 2021 - Present

This position is a temporary position originally intended to last one month during a challenging hiring phase. After the first month, they asked me to stay another month...and then another month...and now it's April. In this position I have updated numerous job descriptions, screened hundreds of resumes and candidates, worked with staffing agency, led site tours of the plant, developed several graphics for employee appreciation events, worked with AP in processing temporary employees' payroll, and helped plan employee appreciation events. I have really enjoyed my time and the people here.

Regional Accounts Sales Coordinator, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers

November 2018-Current

In this role, I had 4 managers that I helped oversee contracts and accounts. I assisted with anything the customers might need in regards to making payments or obtaining important paperwork (titles or liens). I also assisted the managers in creating contracts, emailing these to the customer, and making sure all of our i's were dotted and t's crossed.

Operation Support Analyst, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (formerly IronPlanet)

June 2016-November 2018

I wore many hats in this role. I helped with everything from on-boarding and training new members to solving major logistical issues and reconciling purchase orders. After working here for over two years, I felt like I could listen to and solve the world's complaints. This position taught me about empathy, patience, and efficiency.

Director of Activities Intern & Lead Event Planning Intern, Fort Worth Marathon

September 2014-December 2015

These two different positions allowed me to get my feet wet. I oversaw the volunteers as well as developed a communication plan for our staff, runners, volunteers, and caterers. While supporting the race directors and other staff members, I also helped with marketing.

After stepping into this new role from the Lead Event Planning Intern, I helped plan the annual marathon that involved race director-level decision making. To name a few things, I developed a payment and an organization system, secured donations (private and corporate), and assisted in hiring a graphic designer while maintaining CRM and increasing race registrations by 18% from 2014 to 2015.

Education

What I’ve Learned

Home: Education

Ph.D. Student (Management Concentration), University of South Alabama

May 2020 - Present

I started this program right in the middle of the pandemic. My cohort colleagues and I work while attending this in-person program. We have dealt with not only the pandemic, but hurricanes, blizzards, and so many other wild circumstances that most of the world have also dealt with in the last few years. My program director is Dr. Joe Hair, and my dissertation chair is Dr. Robyn Brouer. I am interested in studying toxic positivity in the workplace.

Master of Business Administration, The University of Texas at Arlington

August 2016 - May 2018

Graduating a semester early, I was able to take courses in statistics, management, ethics, operations, and finance all while working full time. During my time at UTA, I also took a sustainability class where I was able to travel to the Iberian Peninsula and observe paper, cork and port wine makers.

BS in Communication Studies, Texas Christian University

August 2012-December 2015

Graduating early, I obtained a BS with minors in Energy Technology and Management as well as Business Administration. During my time at TCU, I studied in London, Peru, and Cuba while being an active member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, a writer for the TCU Spoon chapter (food website for university students), found a passion for baking pies, triathlons, and half marathons.

Henrietta High School

August 2008-May 2012

I graduated in the top 5% of my class with 21 college credit hours. Maintaining an active role in student council all four years, I also served as the editor of the yearbook and co-editor of the newspaper. I played volleyball, soccer, and tennis and participated in FFA.

Loyalty

Oakley

My 12 year old dachshund is named after Annie Oakley, not the fashion brand. She was adopted from the Humane Society of North Texas during my senior year of undergrad. She quickly became my best pal and travel buddy. She has some health issues, but she's like a cat with 9 lives.

Persistence

Running Half Marathons and 5Ks

There's something so exhilarating about training for months to do this one thing that exhausts you. When you finally finish the race, a feeling develops that is indescribable and keeps me coming back for more. I've run so many half marathons I've lost count, and I've finally completed one marathon. My goal for next year is to complete the Ragbrai ride across Iowa!

I also really enjoy playing pickleball with my friends. I am determined to improve because I have grown to love this sport.

Culturally Diversifying Myself

Travel

I love traveling, and I believe seeing the world is one of the best ways to learn about other cultures. This summer I will be travelling with the MSU study abroad group to London for about 6 weeks.

Don't worry, the elephant in the photo lives in a rescue sanctuary and is well cared for.
